Install and updates
Thinair for macOS is free and needs no account. It installs like any app and keeps itself up to date from a signed feed.
What you need
- macOS 26 or later, on Apple silicon. Thinair for Intel Macs is coming soon.
- Windows is coming.
No account is needed. On your computer everything works without signing in: every app, Native VMs, Profiles, and any coding agent you start in a Terminal.
Install
- Download Thinair for macOS from Get Thinair.
- Open the disk image and drag Thinair to Applications.
- Open Thinair. It sets up its background service, which macOS shows as Thinair OS, and takes the rest of itself from Thinair's update feed.
Every piece of Thinair is checked against its signed record before it runs, the first time and every time after.
Updates
Thinair updates itself in place from a signed feed, with no account. Most updates apply while you work. An update to the app itself waits for you: it shows at the top of the Notifications panel and in Thinair Settings ▸ Updates, with Restart to update.
A restart ends no login shell. Your Terminals keep running, and so do the apps in your VMs: they reconnect as Thinair comes back. If a new version of the app fails to start, Thinair puts the one before it back.
Offline
Thinair starts without a network, from the version it applied last, and follows the update feed again once it can reach it.
