Thinair Cloud
Sign in to Thinair Cloud to run apps in a Linux VM of their own on Cloud's machines, where they keep running while your computer sleeps.
Sign up or sign in at app.usethinair.com with Google or an emailed link. There are no passwords, and your first sign-in makes your account.
To sign a computer in, open Thinair Settings ▸ Account ▸ Sign in to Cloud and choose Continue with Google or Email me a sign-in link. You finish in your own browser. Whoever signs a computer in owns it in Cloud, so only your own click can do it, never an agent.
Cloud apps
Apps ▸ Terminal ▸ Cloud ▸ a Cloud Profile, or the same for Chrome, opens the app in a Linux VM of its own on one of Thinair Cloud's machines. Its Window appears at once and says what Cloud is doing until the app is ready, including when Cloud starts a machine for it. Closing the Window closes the app in Cloud. Thinair Settings ▸ Running in Cloud lists your Cloud apps, each with Stop.
An agent in a Cloud app acts as that app's Cloud Profile, as an agent on your computer acts as its own, and uses the thinair-cloud tools.
Sleep and wake
A Cloud app that has been idle for 30 minutes goes to sleep. Its memory, its login shells' scrollback and its disk are kept, encrypted, in Cloud's store, and asleep it costs nothing. Its next use wakes it on any machine with room, and it carries on where it was. When a new machine has to start for it, that takes about a minute and a half.
Cloud workspaces
Each Cloud account keeps workspaces in Cloud. They show on your computer's canvas, under Cloud in the switcher, the same for every viewer: a Window moved on one computer moves on another within a second. New Workspace can keep a new workspace in Thinair Cloud.
In your browser
app.usethinair.com shows the same canvas as the app, for your Cloud workspaces.
What it costs
Cloud compute is $0.10 per vCPU-hour of an app's awake time, at least one vCPU while it is awake, paid from prepaid credit. Asleep costs nothing, and memory, disk and network are not charged. At zero credit, Cloud apps go to sleep with everything kept: nothing is deleted for want of credit. See Pricing.
